The driver seat felt good to the hand, but it was narrower and firmer than the driver seat in the Raptor. The steering wheel has a nice feeling, but I wonder about the life span of the alcantara leather. The 12” screen is cool, and the 360 camera is super clear. The interior compared to my 2020 looks better, and has more soft touch surfaces. The launch of the line is violent! It’s also impressive for a big truck from 60mph to north of legal speed limits. Does the world really need a truck that can jump over stuff? Nope. It does not need to exist, much like every supercar. Having said that, you can't help but be charmed by its singular goal of being stupidly fast over rough terrain. Nothing says you are potentially ill-equipped in the trouser department quite as well as a bright orange supercar or Ram TRX. Even in a country like the USA where bigger is always better. It consumes too much fuel, is hard to park, is less practical than cheaper cars, and makes you look like a bit of a chop. Unfortunately, the TRX also has the same set of issues as the average supercar. A TRX pickup truck review is similar to a supercar review because they are so focused on achieving a singular target. This is a tricky question because the normal review standards don't apply. Hit a ramp at that speed, and you're on your way to the moon. We suspect that you'll be traveling along at a decent lick by the time you do find the limit. Finding the limit is tricky and best left to expert off-road pilots. The harder you go, the harder the TRX wants to go.

The only way it could possibly be more annoying to environmentalists is if it ran on liquified Alpacas. It's way more impressive than the engine's power output, though the latter does often lead to unintended jumps. The TRX's ability to iron out a badly corrugated surface is mind-blowing. It excels at high-speed off-roading, like dune bashing or traveling down a gravel road at speed. The TRX is a little too large for technical off-road driving. The off-road tires are slightly rumbly at speed, but it's a worthwhile trade-off considering what this thing can do off-road. Potholes and speedbumps cease to exist once you're behind the wheel. The TRX is surprisingly comfortable in town and on the highway. One upside of the above tech is something you might not expect. It even has Jump Detection, which primes the suspension for a hard landing. Off-road driving modes include Mud/Sand, Rock, and Baja.

The hardware works beautifully with the software created specifically for the TRX. We'll start with the hardware consisting of 2.6-inch Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks, a Dana 60 rear axle with a locking differential, 35-inch off-road tires, and 15-inch front brakes. We're far more impressed with the suspension setup, which is as close to a Baja truck as you can get while keeping the car road-legal. Most people are under the impression that the engine is the most impressive part of the TRX. The new Ram 1500 TRX is part of the niche group of trucks explicitly built to jump over stuff and give hot hatches headaches at the same time, and it pulls off this feat better than anything else. But along with a hulking big engine, the Ram also comes with a properly inflated price tag to match every other significant figure attached to it. The TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, while the Raptor only has a twin-turbo V6 for the time being. Ram obviously wanted to build a competitor to the famous Ford F-150 Raptor, but it overshot the mark. Now that internal combustion is on the way out, it just feels right to celebrate it in the best way possible, which is to Hellcat all the things. It makes no sense, yet we're deeply thankful for its existence. Why then does Ram insist on building a 702-horsepower gas-guzzling (or rather gas-destroying) Ram 1500 TRX truck? Because it's awesome, that's why. Does the world really need the 20 TRX? The current status quo is to nurture what precious resources we have and to do as little damage as possible to Mother Nature.
